Chocolate Sour Cream Cake With Chocolate Ganache Recipe
Ingredients:
1 pkg devils food cake mix
1 cup sour cream
2 tbsp of instant coffee
The Process:
grease and flour 2 (9inch) round cake pans
prepare cake mix as directed on package, substitute 1 cup of the sour cream for all of the water
stir in 2 tbsp of the instant coffee
spread batter into prepared cake pans and bake as directed on the cake mix package
cool for 10 mins; remove from pans.
Chocolate Ganache
9 oz bittersweet chocolate chopped
1 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp dark rum
Place the chopped up chocolate in a medium sized bowl. Heat the heavy cream in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Bring to a boil and pour the heavy cream over the chocolate in the bowl. Whisk together till well mix and add in the rum
Allow the ganache to cool slightly before po9uring over the cake. Start at the center of teh cake and work outward. For a fluffy frosting or chocolate filling, allow it to cool until thick , then whip with a whisk until light anf fluffy.
** between the cake layers I cheated and used pre-made cake frosting.
